Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you visit nishpatel.dev, how it is used, and what controls you have over it. This is a personal portfolio site - there are no accounts, no advertising, and no third-party tracking cookies.
1. Data We Collect
1.1 - Site Analytics (Vercel Analytics)
This site uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate visitor patterns.
- Data collected: pageview path, referrer, device type, browser family, country.
- All data is anonymised before storage - no individual is identifiable.
- No cookies No cookies or persistent identifiers are set.
- Data is governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.
1.2 - Performance Metrics (Vercel Speed Insights)
Vercel Speed Insights collects Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS, INP) to monitor real-world page performance.
- Metrics are anonymised and aggregated - no personal data is retained.
- No cookies No cookies or persistent identifiers are set.
- Separate from Vercel Analytics; governed by the same Vercel Privacy Policy.
1.3 - Contact Form Submissions
When you submit the contact form, the following fields are collected and forwarded via Gmail SMTP to nishpatel.cse@gmail.com:
- Name (required)
- Email address (required)
- Phone number (optional)
- Company / Organisation (optional)
- Subject & message (required)
This data is not stored in any database. It is transmitted once to my Gmail inbox and retained only there under Google's standard retention policies. To request deletion, email nishpatel.cse@gmail.com.
1.4 - IP Address for Rate Limiting
To prevent contact form abuse, the server records the sender's IP address in memory and enforces a limit of 5 submissions per hour.
- The IP is stored in-memory only - never written to disk or a database.
- It is automatically discarded after 1 hour, or immediately on server restart / new deployment.
- It is not shared with any third party and not used for any purpose other than rate limiting.
1.5 - Link Preview Requests (Microlink)
Some links on this site show a visual preview when hovered. These previews are powered by the Microlink API.
- When you hover a link that has a preview, your browser makes a live request to
api.microlink.io. - Microlink may log your IP address and user-agent as part of this request.
- This data is handled under Microlink's Privacy Policy - not by this site.
2. Third-Party Services
The table below summarises every external service that may process data when you visit this site.

No advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers receive any data from this site.
4. Data Retention
- Analytics & Speed Insights: Governed by Vercel's retention policy (typically 90 days for raw events; aggregates longer).
- Contact submissions: Retained in Gmail inbox indefinitely, subject to Google's policies. Email me to request deletion.
- IP rate-limit data: Purged automatically after 1 hour, or on each new server deployment.
- Microlink: Retention governed by Microlink's own policy; this site has no visibility into it.
5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of any personal data held about you.
- Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure: request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Restriction / objection: request that processing be limited or stopped.
- Non-discrimination (CCPA): exercising these rights will not affect how you are treated.
To exercise any of these rights, or for any privacy-related question, contact nishpatel.cse@gmail.com. I typically respond within 48 hours, and in some cases up to 15 days.
Note: for data held by third-party services (Vercel, Google, Microlink), you must contact those services directly - I cannot act on their behalf.
6. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. This site has no mailing list, so no notification email will be sent.
